Woohoo – Friday has arrived!

Ahhh – the weekend. It’s finally here. Hurrah!

I can hear the faint chattering and laughter from across the hallway where staff and postgraduate students mingle over some nibbles and drinks. I only had one San Pellegrino mineral water and as I’m feeling a wee bit bloated, I bailed out earlier and chose to return to my office. It was good mixing with the staff and seeing them in a less formal setting and talking about a range of topics other than journal papers and research. 🙂

It’s been quite a busy day today with haircut in the morning, and then coffee with my old friend Bob Koehne, the instrumental person to recruit me to University of South Australia in the early 1990’s. At that time I was thinking of choosing either Adelaide University or University of South Australia. The representative from Adelaide Uni was so stuffy and formal that he put me off the university altogether: (“If you go to Adelaide University, you have to work hard, you have to excel!” yadda, yadda, yadda). I know that, but it wasn’t a good marketing practice to scare off potential students! They have improved a lot, for sure (I had my Graduate Diploma from Adelaide Uni). However, at that time, back in 1990’s, it was Bob Koehne’s warm and friendly demeanour that clinched my application to the university. I got to know him and his wife, Jill over the years and the friendship has gone beyond the university. He has retired from the uni but I still love to catch up with him from time to time.

So from coffee with Bob, I then had a meeting, a seminar, and then lunch, and more work, and then the drinks! Quite a busy day indeed!

I’m going to take the weekend very easy this time around – no driving lesson, no seriously outstanding tasks to do, so I’m just planning to relax and enjoy the days. I may do some gardening as I feel that I have neglected the plants for too long. Thank God for the rain as it has kept my plants alive, lush and green. I do have a barbeque to attend on Saturday evening – so at least I won’t end up being like a hermit this weekend as I will still have some chance to mingle and socialise. Hehe.

Well, the chattering and socialising is still going on; some people have left to enjoy the weekend and I’ll be following suit shortly. I want to head over to Rundle Mall, have a walk around and then head back to the uni for cellgroup.

Have a great Friday, y’all!

I've finally relented to the lures of blogging - and for those who care, well, I'm a self-confessed geek who's a wanderer at heart, who thinks and analyses too much, and who's trying hard to hold on to his 7-year old inner persona.
