I have eleven more working days left before I take a long leave to relax and rediscover my positivity. As mentioned many a time in my recent blog entries, the last six months have been pretty challenging and I don’t like being somebody who whinges and writes negatively all the time. It’s time to let my hair down and be silly so I can return to Adelaide a changed man.
I’m still keeping the whole itinerary a secret – you just need to keep on reading jBløg to know what I am up to during my trip! I know that some of you are getting pretty curious about where I am heading to – so here are a selection of words as hints. Each word represents a place that I am visiting:
lutefisk, paprika, pressburg, mozart, oktoberfest, frites, clogs
What was a nice-to-have in the beginning has now become a lifesaver as I really need to step out of the office for a while and relax! I can afford the trip thanks to the sufficiently accummulated frequent flyer points and the disbursement of my pension from my working years in Singapore.
Apart from those places, a trip back home to Indonesia is of course included, but I’m keeping it a secret from my parents so I can give them a pleasant surprise. 🙂 So, feel free to have a guess or two where I will be heading off to!

Wow another europe trip then, nice trip.
Austria-Italy-Germany-Netherland-Switzerland-France-Benelux. This time you are going to Central Europe. Can’t wait for your stories and pictures from there 🙂
I know you’ ve been to Eastern Europe before. Did you stop by Poland? or you just stayed at Prague, Croatia etc. Just want to know for my future trip to there.
Have you been to Mediterranean Europe? I love to go back there one day with my little daughter when she grows up little bit more. I like their histories etc As my brother in law from Spain, I can stay free whenever I want to 🙂 As my niece live at Italy too. Love to go back to Greece and Turkey for Turkey massage he..he..
Okie dokie, have a nice trip, buddy!
Only three correct, Daisy! 🙂
Yes, I’ve been to parts of Eastern Europe (the Baltics), but I have never been to Poland, Croatia, or the Mediterranean. I’ve been to Prague.
Thanks for the wish! 🙂
HI Arry,
SO pleased to catch you before you head over here. Sorry to see you aren’t coming to Oxford this time, but I will see you when I’m home. Landing 19/8. Will still be on same email and IM of course, though probably using dial up so a bit less frequent than I am here.
Travel safely my friend and come home full of the vim and vigour that I have always known.
Big hugs
Louise & Gerry xx
Hi Ry,
If you don’t mind, gw bisa titip souvenir fridge magnet for each

Kalo elu kaga keberatan yah, krn fridge magnet kan kecil and light
items,
kaga bakalan overweight your suitcase.
Jadinya ke mana aja sih di central Europe nya?
Nanti send souvenirnya ke:
1/31-33 Childs Street
Panania NSW 2213
Then, gw minta your bank account details, jd gw lgs transfer
pembayarannya
ke elu via online banking.
Thanks a lot Ry!
I can’t wait to serve you lutefisk, Arry! For those of you who are not lucky enough to be familiar with this delicacy:
lutefisk (food): dried cod soaked in a lye solution before boiling to give it a gelatinous consistency
Hymn to Lutefisk
[May be sung to the tune of O Tannunbaum]

O, Lutefisk
Lutefisk… 0 Lutefisk… how fragrant your aroma
0 Lutefisk… 0 Lutefisk… You put me, in a coma
You smell so strong… You look like glue
You taste yust like an overshoe
Put Lutefisk … come Saturday
I tink I’ll eat you anyway.
Lutefisk … 0 Lutefisk … I put you by the doorway
I vanted you to ripen up … yust like dey do in Norway
A dog came by and sprinkled you … I hit him vit an army shoe
0 Lutefisk … now I suppose
I’ll eat you as I hold my nose.
Lutefisk … 0 Lutefisk … how well I do remember
On Christmas Eve how we’d receive … our big treat of December
It vasn’t turkey or fried ham … it vasn’t even pickled spam
My mudder knew dere vas no risk …
In serving buttered lutefisk.
Lutefisk … 0 Lutefisk … now everyone discovers
Dat Lutefisk and lefse makes Norweigians better lovers
Now all da vorld can have a ball … you’re better dan dat Yeritol
0 Lutefisk … vit brennevin
You make me feel like Errol Flynn.
Lutefisk … O lutefisk … You have a special flavor
Lutefisk … O lutefisk … All good Norwegians savor.
That slimy slab we know so well … Identified by ghastky smell
Lutefisk … O lutefisk … Our loyalty won’t waver.
Eek 😮 – Silje!!!
