I went to Stirling today to meet some of the workers from church to have an informal prayer meeting out of the confines of a physical room. I took the bus at 10.30am and arrived in Stirling at about 11.00am – I met Cornelius and Mary at the bus stop and we made our way to the park near the Stirling library. At the end, we had our prayer meeting in the rotunda in the park near the library – it was a lovely informal meeting. We shared our experiences over some chocolate and lamingtons. Novi shared a passage from Psalm 37:3-8 (NKJV) which seemed to fit my current predicament:
Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.
Whilst she focused on God giving us the desires of our heart, I was blessed by the part which said that I should rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him, and that I should not fret. I know that beneath my calm façade, I am fretting inside on what I should do for my future. This advice was also shared many years ago in 1995, when I wasn’t sure what I should do when I finished my university degree in Australia. I didn’t want to return to Indonesia then and I was getting anxious. My spiritual ‘dad’, Ps. Graham Taylor told me to rest in the Lord. One advice that is still highly relevant in my life today. Cornelius also encouraged me when he shared that we should find our mission in life, wherever we are. I suppose now that my circumstances are changing, I should ask God again on what my mission for this current time and for the future. Exciting times ahead!
