Yes – I have neglected my jBløg for far too long now — so here is my entry again.
The last few weeks have been hectic with work and with church activity wrap-up for the year. Because I can’t spend too much time writing a long blog entry on what I have been doing for the last four weeks, I’ll just focus on the movie that I watched yesterday with Robby and Tomas. There has been a lot of news recently on Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. I quite enjoyed the movie, even though having read the commentaries and reviews make me a little bit desensitised when I watched the actual scenes. I would’ve liked it if I hadn’t known so much already. I have seen a couple of Ali G DVDs with Borat in it as well, so the jokes may be more impactful to those who have never seen Sacha Baron Cohen in action before.
I had a couple of laugh-out-loud moments and a lot of cringes, but my favourite scenes were when Borat tried to capture Pamela Anderson. When I watched the movie, I thought that she genuinely didn’t know what was happening but now I know that she’s in it all the time! Because of her involvement in the movie, apparently her current husband, Kid Rick, has filed for a divorce. Silly dodo.
Anyway, if I have to give a rating to this movie, I’d give it 3.5 / 5 – it’s not overly fantastic but not bad either. Incidentally, it’s going to be a hot day in Adelaide today, the weather is expected to reach 38C. ARGH! Tonight’s going to be warm as well, with the minimum expected to be 22C, so I think I may just sleep on the couch in the living room with the aircon on.
Back to work now …
