Don’t forget, enjoy the ride!

Open door

After yesterday’s low, I’m cautiously optimistic and more positive today. Even though I know I should put a braver front on my blog, so that it could encourage other people who read my posts, I also acknowledge that it’s fine to feel down and tired once in a while – just as long as you don’t give in to the negative feelings all the time. It’s so easy for seasoned Christians to put a superhuman façade, to always be on the bright side of life. I just want to show a more realistic side to the walk, that when you are in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, it’s alright to feel afraid – as long as you remember that God is walking right beside you, keeping you safe. It’s like when you go in a rollercoaster, you scream and shout as you enter a twisty segment – you can’t help feeling afraid – but you know that you’re safe because there’s a barrier that’s holding you in. It’s important to hold on to your faith, even in the most terrifying moment of your life.

I received a couple of calls that cheered me up a lot – one was from an executive search company, and the other was from the paver who mentioned that they could do the paving job tomorrow. Talk about last minute notice! I sent some applications yesterday, including an application to be the Team Leader of a small analytical team in a local corporation. The position was advertised in the beginning of the month, so I wasn’t sure whether it was still open or not. I called the agency, pretty much 15 minutes before close of business! I was given the email address of the lady who was in charge of the vacancy and was told to send the application anyway. I did, as suggested – and this morning I got a call from the lady, who wanted to know more about my background and experience. The lady mentioned that my application came at the right time as she was going to speak to the client at 1.30pm today! I’m meeting her tomorrow so she can put a face to the name and also check my credentials – I’ve been asked to bring my passport and university papers. I’m cautiously optimistic as the job does sound like a good fit with my background.

So there you go – a new door is opened a bit, to let some sunlight in, hopefully it won’t close before I get my foot in!

For some strange reason, I remember the quirky song by a Welsh singer, Jem “Just a ride”.

It’s just a ride, it’s just a ride
No need to run, no need to hide
It’ll take you all around
Sometimes you’re up
Sometimes you’re down
It’s just a ride, it’s just a ride
Don’t be scared now
Dry your eyes
It may feel so real inside
But dont forget enjoy the ride.

I’m enjoying the rollercoaster, but is it possible for me to get off now and take a more pleasant ride? Hahaha. 😀 Thank you for your prayers – whoever you are. 🙂

Have a great day, folks – remember to smile and brighten someone else’s day!

I've finally relented to the lures of blogging - and for those who care, well, I'm a self-confessed geek who's a wanderer at heart, who thinks and analyses too much, and who's trying hard to hold on to his 7-year old inner persona.
