Corner of the earth

It’s 25 minutes after five, Monday is officially over – the university is still very quiet with some people are still on leave or busy elsewhere. There are gradually more people working and I’m sure by the end of the week, I will be pining for the weekend! Haha.

Today’s not a bad day at all though – although I feel that I was strangely a tad moody this morning (it must be my period again), I’m feeling fine this afternoon. The Apple-Carrot-Beetroot Boost juice around lunch time and the coffee in the afternoon certainly helped. The first half of the day was occupied with my moving office from the northern side of the building to the southern side. I used to share the old office with three officemates with my old desk overlooking the skate park across the road, with the train tracks in the background and the parklands in the distance. It’s a good spot that I have relinquished in exchange for a quiet spot in an office for two in the southern end of the building. 🙂

I’m sharing the office with a fellow Masters student who is ahead of me in her progress and I suppose both of us do need our peace and quiet for our writing and analysis – I’m on the eastern corner and she’s on the western corner of the room. Both of us are the quiet type and the southern end of the building has less foot traffic, compared to our old spots. I function better when it’s nice and quiet with less distractions so I quite like my new spot. Although I don’t have the parklands in my vista, my window overlooks the neighbouring building so I can hide if one of my students are walking in my direction *laugh*. My ivy seems to have a good spot in the office as well – the favourable condition in my old office has caused it to grow considerably, I hope it will continue to grow well over here!

I also spent the morning writing – trying to incorporate the papers and the data that I gathered at the end of last week into my thesis draft. It’s one thing getting the ingredients, it’s another thing how to cook them well! I also posted a request to the old bulletin board in Singapore, asking whether anybody know any media planner in the UK that could help me with my research. Some of my old friends in Singapore are originally from the UK, so somebody must know a media planner there. I hope somebody could help me!

Well, it’s time to call it a day, methinks. Tomorrow will be a day of writing and Excel programming … fun times ahead! I just need to get used to my new corner of the earth. 🙂

This corner of the earth is like me in many ways
I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play
On the face of this I’m blessed
When the sunlight comes for free
I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me

I've finally relented to the lures of blogging - and for those who care, well, I'm a self-confessed geek who's a wanderer at heart, who thinks and analyses too much, and who's trying hard to hold on to his 7-year old inner persona.
